Why You Need an Ethics and Compliance Program
Our purchase orders include an Ethics Statement, which encourages all suppliers to implement an effective ethics program. In addition, Lockheed Martin expects our suppliers to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the provisions in our Supplier Code of Conduct.
Just boilerplate language? The provisions in the Supplier Code cover many, if not most, of the issues Lockheed Martin and its suppliers face every day – from environmental, human rights and human trafficking, to counterfeit parts and conflict minerals.
Plus, there’s an additional benefit of implementing an effective ethics program: maintaining a culture where employees feel empowered to speak up. This provides leaders the chance to hear any bad news early before a question becomes a major issue.
Could your company use some guidance to meet these expectations?
The Supplier Ethics Mentoring Program provides the resources to help you design and improve your ethics program, to comply with your legal requirements, and our business expectations.
In addition to accessing free resources on our website, our Supplier Ethics Mentoring Program offers a series of three to four meetings with an experienced Lockheed Martin Ethics Officer.
- First meeting: Introduction to the Mentoring Program and the available resources, including the Self-Assessment Tool.
- Second Meeting: Discuss where the supplier would like to start in developing or enhancing their program.
- Third and fourth Meetings: Referrals to resources to help the supplier build their program, including evaluation of the Elements of an Effective Program.
