Honoring Our Nation’s Veterans

November 11, 2013

To Lockheed Martin U.S. Employees:

Today our country celebrates Veterans Day – a day to honor the men and women who have served in our armed forces.

Since the founding of our nation, we have relied on exceptional individuals who answered the call to defend our country “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Often they were sent to faraway places with names etched in history, where they fought courageously in the name of freedom. They stepped forward in times of crisis to come to the aid of those who needed it most. From natural disasters to global conflict, veterans have helped people around the world recover and rebuild their lives.

Here at home, they’re an embodiment of enduring values – like honor, integrity and service – that have made this country great.

For this and so much more, veterans have earned America’s heartfelt gratitude.

In Lockheed Martin, we have 24,293 U.S. veterans among our ranks – nearly one-quarter of our workforce. To all of you, on this special day, I want to express my deep appreciation for all you’ve done for our nation and for Lockheed Martin.

I hope all of you will join me today – and every day – in saying to veterans everywhere: Thank you for your service. You have helped to make the world a better place.
