Are you up for a challenge? Accelerate a Better You during the inaugural Lockheed Martin Challenge, a family-friendly 5k Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 4, in Rockville, Md.

The Centennial Challenge is a great way to get healthy, support a great cause and have fun. Form teams with your colleagues and take on the challenge together! Each participant will receive a free dry-weave T-shirt and other cool swag.

You’ll be able to pick up your race packet at your local Wellness Center the week of the event. If you don’t have a Wellness Center at your site, you can pick up your packet the morning of the event.

The cost to participate in the 5k Run/Walk is a $15 donation per participant plus a $2.95 registration processing fee. The race is open to Lockheed Martin employees and their family members. All proceeds from the event benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit whose mission is to:

  • Raise awareness and support for the needs of injured service members
  • Help injured service members aid and assist each other and
  • Provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.

Event Details
The 5k Run/Walk starts at 9 a.m. at the Lockheed Martin facility at 1 Curie Court in Rockville, Md. Below is the tentative course.

For the younger crew, we’ll launch a tot trot at 10 a.m. Participation in the tot trot is free and kids will receive a medal for their effort.

Need a Training Plan?
Employees interested in physical activity health coaching can visit their local Wellness Center. It’s convenient and free, and all employees can use Wellness Centers, regardless of health plan participation.

Employees can also log in to the Virgin HealthMiles website and click on “Workout Planner” under the Activity tab for help putting together a training plan.
