Joins Forces with Vets

West Coast employees pitch in to build homes for military veterans

Last month, 60 Skunk Works® employees and their families and friends joined forces with local veterans and volunteered to help Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys build an 87-home development site for low-income veteran families in Santa Clarita, California. Volunteers plastered and filled retaining walls, painted fences, filled sandbags and weeded the property.

Volunteers were physically challenged but all agreed they would offer their muscles again in a heartbeat to make home ownership a possibility for our vets. In addition to this volunteer support, Lockheed Martin donated funds as a Builder Partner and will soon donate funds for a worksite golf cart.

Lockheed Martin has committed their support to help Habitat for Humanity finish development of the homes.

A Million Makes a Difference is part of Lockheed Martin’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Lockheed Martin invests more than $25 million worldwide to nonprofit organizations, focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and military/veteran causes. In addition, employees donate $20 million annually to various organizations through workplace-giving campaigns and volunteer an average of 1 million hours each year.
