Lockheed Martin Executive Marcus C. Hansen Receives Prestigious Alumni Award from Penn Stare University
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA, 10/09/2000 -- Marcus C. Hansen, president, Lockheed Martin Management & Data Systems (M&DS) received the Outstanding Science Alumni Award from Pennsylvania State University, Eberly College of Science. Hansen along with three other recipients were recognized at the University's annual recognition reception Friday, October 6, 2000 at University Park. This prestigious award established in 1996, recognizes and rewards outstanding Penn State science alumni for their success as leaders in science and for the impact they have had and will continue to have on society and their respected professions.
I am honored to receive such a distinguished award. The education I received and the experiences I had at Penn State have served me well in my career. As an active alumnus and a corporate partner with Penn State, this award has a very special meaning for me, said Hansen.
Prior to becoming president in 1997, Hansen served as executive vice president, M&DS. Hansen's assignments during his 32-year professional career have included vice president, Requirements Management Systems; general manager, Government Electronic Systems in Moorestown, NJ and general manager, Engineering, Ocean and Radar Systems in Syracuse, NY.
His career began in 1968 with GE Aerospace in Valley Forge, PA. In 1974, he became program manager supporting the Landsat satellite system and in 1977 joined M&DS where he held a number of increasingly responsible engineering and program management positions.
Hansen is the Lockheed Martin Corporate Liaison to the Pennsylvania State University and currently serves on the Advisory Board for their School of Information Sciences and Technology. He also serves on their Computer Science and Engineering Industrial and Professional Advisory Council as well as the Advisory Board of the University's Great Valley Campus. He is also a member of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
A native of Washington, DC, Hansen is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics. He also earned a Master's degree in Industrial Administration from Purdue University.
He and his wife, Cheryl, reside in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. They have two grown children, Wendy and Michael.
