Lockheed Martin Team Awarded Airport Security Rollout Contract to Implement New Airport Security Measures
GAITHERSBURG, MD, June 7th, 2002 -- Lockheed Martin has been selected by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to implement new security operations that will help ensure air passenger safety at the nation's airports. The task order contract for the Airport Security Rollout program has a value of $350 million, not to exceed $490 million. The Lockheed Martin team will upgrade passenger security measures at airports and help convert passenger screening operations throughout the U.S. to federal control.

"Ensuring security for the flying public is a critical priority and we will start work immediately to help the TSA upgrade security procedures and equipment at our nation's airports."
The Lockheed Martin team will implement the master coordination plan and rollout schedule that it developed under Phase 1 of the program. The work will involve discrete procedures, tailored to individual airports, and affect security for passenger screening. Passenger screening lanes at security checkpoints inside airports will be reconfigured; if needed, screening equipment, such as metal detectors, x-ray machines, video cameras and hand wands will be upgraded or replaced. The team will also provide logistics and orientation support for new government screening personnel. These security measures must be in place by a Congressionally-mandated deadline of November 19, 2002.
Lockheed Martin is teamed with KPMG Consulting, a leading business consulting and systems integration firm. Parsons Corporation, an industry-recognized expert in aviation facility construction, is a major subcontractor on the team, which also includes Booz-Allen.
