BETHESDA, Md., 09/23/2010 --

Lockheed Martin's (NYSE: LMT) Board of Directors today named Patrick M. Dewar, 49, as the corporation's new senior vice president, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, effective Oct. 1. Dewar, who currently serves as Lockheed Martin's International Business Development vice president, succeeds Robert H. Trice, 64, who has announced plans to retire in February.

"Pat's broad experience in domestic and international business and program management, coupled with his exemplary leadership and uncompromising integrity, make him the ideal successor to Bob to lead our outstanding team of business development professionals," said Lockheed Martin Chairman and CEO Bob Stevens. "We are facing a new reality in a changing marketplace, where our customers are requesting increased productivity and more affordable solutions. I have great confidence in Pat's ability to strengthen our global portfolio, drive business growth, and ensure that we consistently deliver optimum value to our customers, shareholders and employees."

Assigned to his current role in January 2009, Dewar previously served as Business Development vice president for Lockheed Martin's Electronic Systems Business Area. He has also held executive-level program management and business development positions in the Missiles and Fire Control and former Systems Integration-Owego business units. Dewar holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Swarthmore College and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University.

"Bob Trice is an icon in our industry and a full-spectrum leader," said Stevens. "During a period of intense growth and market expansion, he has been responsible for the corporation's new business strategies and operations worldwide. In that role, he has left an indelible mark on Lockheed Martin. Bob has our sincere thanks and very best wishes." To ensure a smooth transition, Dr. Trice will continue to serve on Lockheed Martin's executive management team until February.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 136,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services.
