5,000-Plus USO Care Packages Prepared by Lockheed Martin Volunteers for Deployed Service Members
Hundreds of Employees, Family Members and Friends Participate
FORT WORTH, Texas, April 3, 2013 – More than 230 Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] employees and their families prepared more than 5,000 care packages for deployed service members Saturday, March 23. Employees from Lockheed Martin’s facilities in Fort Worth and Grand Prairie, working with the USO, manned assembly lines to put together the care packages in just four hours.
The mission of Operation USO Care Package is to provide a “touch of home” to service members away from home. Operation USO Care Package is the only program of its kind endorsed by the White House and Department of Defense.
USO Care Packages are distributed to boost morale among troops. The care packages contain an assortment of toiletry items that our military have specifically requested, such as razors, shampoo, toothbrushes and reading material.
