Good Corporate Citizenship and Respect for Human Rights
Our global policies, procedures, and practices reflect our strong commitment to good corporate citizenship. We believe that respect for human rights is an important part of being a good corporate citizen. This commitment underlies Setting the Standard, the Lockheed Martin Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and our stated values—Do What’s Right, Respect Others, and Perform with Excellence. This commitment applies to all employees, the Lockheed Martin Corporation Board of Directors, and others who represent or act for us.
Good corporate citizenship is part of our business strategy, which shapes our mission and informs our choices. As such, we seek to improve the global society in which we operate, advance technological and economic development, communicate honestly and forthrightly, and hold ourselves accountable to deliver consistently what we promise to our stakeholders (customers, stockholders, employees, partners, suppliers, and communities); and minimize any negative consequences of our business activities. In furtherance of these objectives, we subscribe to the following principles:
- We will uphold the laws applying to our business, wherever we operate. We will adhere to the highest standard of business ethics, as must those who operate on our behalf. We will conduct business in good faith, seek fair outcomes, build trust and respect, and perform with integrity. We will not knowingly facilitate illegal or improper conduct by others, regardless of local norms.
- We will seek to minimize the negative consequences of our business activities and decisions on our stakeholders by minimizing harm to the environment and conserving natural resources, promoting workplace safety based on the more stringent of local standards or the company’s policies or procedures, ensuring accuracy and transparency in our communications with stakeholders, and delivering high-quality products and services.
- We will contribute to economic and social well-being by investing our resources in innovative products and services; supporting charitable, philanthropic, and social causes; participating appropriately in political affairs and public debate to advance and advocate our values, including engaging our customers to balance appropriately the sale and use of our technology against national and international interests; and promoting efforts to stop corrupt practices that interfere with markets, inhibit economic development, and limit sustainable futures.
- We will support human rights by treating employees with respect, promoting fair employment practices, providing fair and competitive wages, and prohibiting harassment, bullying, and discrimination, use of child or forced labor, or trafficking in persons for any purpose.
Lockheed Martin values relationships that are grounded in a shared commitment to good corporate citizenship. We expect our suppliers to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with Setting the Standard and the principles expressed in this policy.
We will report periodically on our progress in upholding this policy and assess regularly whether changes are needed to ensure that we keep our commitment to good corporate citizenship and respect for human rights.
