Global Growth

We welcomed Finland, Germany and Switzerland to the F-35 enterprise. By the 2030s, it is expected that over 550 F-35s will work together from more than 10 European countries, including two full U.S. F-35 squadrons at Royal Air Force Lakenheath base.

Mission Success

After nearly 26 days in space, the Orion spacecraft returned to Earth in a way that no other human-rated spacecraft has done before on the Artemis I uncrewed mission. Our engineers designed and built Orion to take NASA’s astronauts deep into space. As early as 2024, it's slated to take the first woman and first person of color to the Moon.

Strengthening Global Security

President Joe Biden visited our facility in Troy, Alabama, where we build Javelin anti-tank missiles that are vital to helping Ukraine fend off Russian invasions. U.S. Assistance to Ukraine includes more than 8,500 Javelins and 38 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems.

Autonomous Flight

We made history with DARPA and the first-ever pilotless BLACK HAWK flight.

Advancing Hypersonic Flight

Darkstar may be a fictional aircraft built for the Top Gun sequel, but its capabilities are real. The Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) performed three successful test flights this year. We partnered with DARPA on Operational Fires, which fills a midrange hypersonic need for the U.S. Army and completed its first successful test.

Next-Generation Aircraft

We announced production work for the LMXT, America’s next strategic tanker, will take place in Alabama and Georgia.

Driving Connectivity

We connected two military vehicles and a command center with commercial 5G technology to enable greater situational awareness. We also flew 5G-enabled drones to capture and securely transfer high-speed, real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) data from aircraft in flight to geolocate military targets in a collaboration with Verizon. Additionally, in collaboration with AT&T, network engineers transferred health and usage data from a Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk to Waterton, Colorado, for real-time analysis.

Solving Complex Challenges

We completed X-59 structural testing, continuing progress with NASA to redesign supersonic flight.

From the Lab to the Field

We delivered our highest-powered electric laser to date to the U.S. Department Of Defense. We achieved this milestone ahead of schedule via the delivery of a ruggedized, field-ready 300 kW-class level system called the High Energy Laser Scaling Initiative. We also delivered a 60+ kW-class high-energy laser to the U.S. Navy with integrated optical dazzler and surveillance. It’s the first tactical laser weapon system to be integrated into existing ships.

Human-Machine Team

We unveiled our vision for distributed teaming, partnering piloted aircraft and autonomous systems to stay ahead of emerging threats.

Test Driving Tomorrow

At a large-scale military exercise in the Pacific, we provided a glimpse into the future of Joint All-Domain Operations, an integrated approach where systems operate together across land, sea, air, space and cyber.

A Glimpse into the Cosmos

The Lockheed Martin-built NIRCam instrument provided a breathtaking look at the cosmos that had never been seen before. The infrared imager on NASA’sJames Webb Space Telescope is providing an unprecedented look into the history of the universe.
