Lockheed Martin Achieves Significant Information Technology Services Milestone

Gaithersburg, Md., 07/06/2011 --

Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] today announced the successful achievement of ISO 20000 certification for its Information Systems & Global Solutions business area. The IT services certification complements the information security ISO 27001 certification which was announced in November of 2009 wherein Lockheed Martin became the first major systems integrator to achieve this designation. The attainment of two internationally recognized certifications in IT services and information security standards positions Lockheed Martin as one of five U.S.-based companies and government organizations to accomplish these combined milestones.

"These critical IT services and security certifications are key to meeting Lockheed Martin's goals in the areas of program and performance excellence," said Rick Johnson, vice president and chief technology officer of Lockheed Martin Information Systems & Global Solutions. "The achievement is a significant benefit we can now provide on our more than 2,300 customer contracts and 17,000 suppliers that rely on resilient systems and trusted services to meet their core mission goals."

The scope of the recent ISO 20000 certification focused on IS&GS programs related to information technology solutions and services, and the Corporation's Services Engineering centers of excellence. One program review involved the 844th Communications Group on Joint Base Andrews, Md. The 844th Communications Group provides enhanced communications reliability, survivability, information capabilities, and user support within the National Capital Region on behalf of the Air Force District of Washington.

Cyber security is a core component of Lockheed Martin's information technology services and solutions. Both security and services initiatives are critical to maintaining national and government security while enhancing continuous improvement of the company's management systems.

Headquartered in Bethesda, Md., Lockheed Martin is a global security company that employs about 126,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services.
