Can you tell us about yourself?
I was born and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico, where we eat arroz con gandules and pasteles, listen to salsa music and honor Roberto Clemente – the best right fielder in baseball history. Growing up, my parents stressed the importance of our faith, love for our family, language, rich culture and the contributions of Hispanics and their indigenous Spanish and African roots. I treasure my cultural identity and the values that were instilled in me. That passion and determination has given me the drive to share my heritage with my family, friends and co-workers. I noticed there was an increasing number of Hispanic employees at Lockheed Martin, so I established the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Awareness (HOLA). HOLA is an Employee Resource Group where Hispanic employees could be recognized as a group that values, optimizes and leverages the internal and external resources of its Hispanic community for the global benefit of Lockheed Martin. Being Hispanic, we’re very family-oriented, and I see my co-workers as an extension of my family. I am tremendously proud to work in an industry where Hispanics are lightly represented and achieving positions of leadership. I am now in a unique position to educate others about the diversity of Spanish-speaking cultures in the world. I am humbled and honored to serve as an inspiration to other Hispanics and minorities at Lockheed Martin.
Do you want co-workers that treat you like family? If so, a career at Lockheed Martin might be for you.
