About Javelin
- Developed and produced by the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) between Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, Javelin ® is a versatile, one-man-portable and multi-purpose weapon system that provides the capability to defeat a broad spectrum of threats under all conditions.
- Javelin offers more than 20 years of proven performance, which includes combat operations in multiple theaters with more than 5,000 firings before the Ukraine conflict started.
- Javelin employs fire-and-forget missile guidance technology over its entire engagement capability envelope of 65 meters to 4 kilometers in most operating conditions, affording the highest level of survivability to the user.
- Javelin’s current production rate is 2,400 per year. We are working with our U.S. Army customer to increase production capacity to 3,960 Javelins per year by employing new tooling and test equipment, ramping up production and partnering with our already active supply chain.
- The ramp-up to 3,960 per year is expected to be reached by late 2026.
- On August 29, 2024, the U.S. Army awarded the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV) a follow-on fiscal year 2024 production contract for Javelin® missiles and associated equipment and services with total value of $1.3 billion. As the largest single-year Javelin production contract to date, this is the first follow-on award that is a part of an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) production contract that was initially awarded in May 2023.
- The contract supports Javelin’s increased global demand, including new international customer Kosovo.
- The contract includes more than 4,000 Javelins to replenish rounds sent to Ukraine.
- On March 18, 2024, Javelin was successfully deployed from two different unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) as part of the U.S. Army’s Project Convergence Capstone 4 (PCC4) Phase II series of exercises. Javelin was deployed from two UGVs, which were both equipped with the Kongsberg Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station-Javelin (CROWS-J). This exercise was significant because this was the first time Javelin was successfully deployed from multiple UGVs in a coordinated live fire event representative of projected tactical engagement scenarios.
- On September 6, 2023, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and the Javelin Joint Venture (JJV), a partnership between Raytheon and Lockheed Martin, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the production of the Javelin anti-tank weapon system in Poland. The JJV-PGZ MOU agreement further strengthens Poland’s relationship with both Raytheon and Lockheed Martin.
