Community Resilience

Community Resilience

At Lockheed Martin, we recognize the important role we play in the collective effort to build and sustain thriving communities where we live and work.

As part of our commitment, we focus on equipping these communities with basic essential needs such as food security and disaster preparedness, response and recovery.

We are also dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability by partnering with proven organizations that are advancing equitable climate adaptation strategies and carbon reduction through nature-based solutions, such as coastal marsh conservation, living shorelines, habitat restoration and forest stewardship.

Tackling Food Insecurity

To address the growing food insecurity crisis affecting numerous communities nationwide, we are taking a proactive approach to help those who struggle to access adequate and nutritious food, especially in our local communities and in the military and veteran population.

To achieve this, we have partnered with food banks across the country to provide financial resources and volunteer support. Our contributions are aimed at helping these food banks expand their reach and provide essential services to those in need.

Red Cross
The American Red Cross is a nonprofit humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education in the U.S. The ARC responds to about 65,000 disasters each year, provides more than 510,000 services to service members, veterans, and their families.

Annual Disaster Giving Program

As a member of the Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP), Lockheed Martin provides essential support before disasters hit, enabling the Red Cross to stock warehouses with lifesaving supplies like nonperishable food and blankets. The ARC helps train disaster response volunteers, who make up 90% of the ARC workforce, and keep the fleet of 340 emergency response vehicles ready to deliver food and supplies at a moment's notice. ADGP members also assist communities in identifying and meeting local preparedness needs such as home fire prevention, by supporting smoke alarm installations in at-risk homes.

Service to the Armed Forces

The ARC Service to the Armed Forces (ARCSAF) helps military members, veterans, and their families prepare for, cope with, and respond to the challenges of military service. Each year, ARCSAF provides more than 510,000 services by leveraging a network of some 265,000 volunteers around the world. The ARC has been serving the military for more than 140 years and provides in-person support for troops on more than 100 military installations and deployment sites worldwide, and is the only organization chartered by the U.S. Congress to furnish volunteer aid to the military sick/wounded during times of war.

Nature Conservancy

The Nature Conservancy

Lockheed Martin is helping to advance equitable climate adaptation strategies in partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature and thrive. TNC works closely with the Department of Defense (DoD) Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Program, with a stated goal of promoting and enhancing off-installation nature-based solutions to protect and sustain military mission capabilities and critical infrastructure.

Our commitment to the alliance, which began in 2021, supports projects aimed at expanding and protecting coastal areas, forest land, wildlife habitats, and areas suitable for military training and readiness through nature-based solutions.

We also engage with communities by fostering relationships to shape climate resilience planning and ensure that TNC’s work is integrating communities’ perspectives and supporting local resilience goals.
