Advancing 21st Century Security®
- The U.S. Navy and Lockheed Martin have developed and fielded cutting-edge AI software updates for destroyers shooting down missiles and drones in the Red Sea, thanks to a team of technical experts that analyzed data from all the shootdown events since October.
- Lockheed Martin Australia signed a landmark AUD$500 million contract with the Department of Defence to build Australia’s future Joint Air Battle Management System under project - AIR6500 Phase 1. This system will provide the Australia Defence Force with an advanced integrated air and missile defense capability, using next-gen technologies, to combat high-speed threats.
- Lockheed Martin Skunk Works® joined the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School and other government and industry partners in hosting U.S. Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall to fly in the X-62A Variable In-flight Simulation Test Aircraft (VISTA), a one-of-a-kind aircraft modified to test artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomy capabilities.
- The U.S. Air Force and Lockheed Martin conducted a planned flight test of the unarmed, developmental Mk21A reentry vehicle – the critical front-end of the service’s future intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) weapon system.
- The U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor fleet recently reached 500,000 flight hours.
- Lockheed Martin recently delivered the 2,700th Hercules multi-mission tactical airlifter, increasing the size, reach and strength of the worldwide C-130 fleet.
- The U.S. Army awarded Lockheed Martin a $756 million contract to deliver additional capability for the nation’s ground-based hypersonic weapon system, the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW).
Major Program Awards
Updates in Defense Tech
- Precision Fires launchers programs received undefinitized contracts worth nearly $1.3 billion for HIMARS production and M270A2 upgrades. The contracts include domestic and international sales.
- The Tactical Missiles and AP Team, in partnership with Rheinmetall, unveiled the Global Mobile Artillery Rocket System (GMARS) at Eurosatory 2024.
- In partnership with the U.S. Navy, Lockheed Martin successfully conducted the 12th Integrated Test Event with four LRASM missiles simultaneously in flight. The historic event is a graduation exercise for the missiles' latest configuration and lays the foundation for increased capabilities to come.
Next-Gen Space Capabilities
- GOES-U, an advanced weather satellite built by Lockheed Martin for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), successfully launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
- Lockheed Martin was selected to develop and build the nation's next generation weather satellite constellation, Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO).
- NASA has selected Carbon Investigation (Carbon-I), a Caltech-led program in collaboration with NASA JPL, Carnegie Science and Lockheed Martin, for a one-year feasibility study to map carbon dioxide and methane emissions globally at a higher-than-ever resolution.
Supporting Allied Deterrence
- In May, the U.S. State Department announced it approved potential foreign military sales of Black Hawks to Austria, Brazil and Sweden. In April, the Government of Greece signed a Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) making official its intent to procure 35 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, a deal estimated at $1.95B.
- The first Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II for the Polish Air Force stood with weight on wheels for the first time, a significant milestone for the jet as it moves down the production line at Lockheed Martin’s mile-long assembly plant in Fort Worth, Texas.
- Poland officials signed a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) to purchase 400 JASSM-ERs – the largest international order in program history – providing the international partner with the latest-generation JASSM variant.
