Multi-Role Capabilities ___

Utility version of the BLACK HAWK helicopter, with a max gross weight of 9,979 kg (22,000 lbs), transports 12 fully equipped, seated troops in combat. Sikorsky offers customization for additional mission sets.

Internal / External Lift

Carry 4,080 kg/9,000 lbs. of supplies as an internal or external load. Sling load firefighting Bambi bucket or light vehicles from the cargo hook, then release to the ground from a hover.

Combat Assault

Protect your aircraft during armed assault missions with crew served door or window guns, and armored floors.

Firefighting

Sling load a Bambi Bucket for precision water drops, or fly command and control / search and rescue missions in high, hot conditions.

Search and Rescue

Bolt on a rescue hoist to perform humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions. An electro-optical sensor and weather radar will greatly assist the (combat) search and rescue mission.

Special Operations

Fast rope troops to the ground while hovering with a Fries bar. Add 200-gallon external or internal fuel tanks for extra range and endurance. Consider crew-served guns as well.

The BLACK HAWK NEXT™ program will increase the aircraft’s capability for the U.S. Army. With Soldiers expected to rely on the Black Hawk into the 2070s, these upgrades - which leverage investments from Future Vertical Lift (FVL) - will provide significant improvements.

BLACK HAWK NEXT™ modernization will:

Deliver 50% more power and better fuel-efficiency with the Improved Turbine Engine, so the aircraft can fly further, loiter longer, and carry more payload on a single tank of gas.
Accelerate and simplify future technology upgrades through a MOSA-enabled digital backbone.
Enable the Black Hawk to carry and manage networked Launched Effects drones to collect and share vital intelligence in contested environments.
Simplify and streamline maintenance and sustainment to reduce costs and improve mission readiness.
Integrate autonomy to improve safety, let pilots focus on the mission, and enable pilot-less support missions like logistics and resupply.

New Modular Nose

The new modular nose gives Black Hawk crews more than twice the internal volume to house sensors and electronics, opening up new mission options and applications.
Reconfigurable and open architecture, the new nose makes integrating, swapping, and upgrading electronics faster and easier. It includes space for internal sensors and an integrated mount for external sensor pods.
That larger space accommodates electronics that can improve missions and functions like autonomy, search and rescue, and drone control, and flying in degraded environments. And with more room for more components, future Black Hawks can take on more missions simultaneously, adding even more versatility to this proven workhorse.
